The Rocky Horror Show Theatre Experience was it!

So, what happened?

Well, I’d heard people talking about The Rocky Horror Show for years, but somehow it had never reached the top of my theatre wish list. When I finally booked tickets, what I wasn’t prepared for was the performance beginning long before the curtain went up!

This was definitely not just another night at the theatre. It was an event in its own right.

Everywhere I looked (sometimes discreetly!), audience members had completely embraced the occasion by dressing as their favourite characters from the show.

Black corsets, fishnet stockings, towering high heels, feathered headpieces, gothic make-up, sequins and glitter were everywhere.

Magenta’s iconic French maid outfit made several appearances, complete with frilly aprons and fishnet stockings, while men in white laboratory coats and thick black-rimmed glasses proudly stepped into character.

Honestly, if ever an audience deserved its own red carpet, this was it!

The excitement didn’t stop there. Throughout the theatre foyer, guests were being stopped by fellow audience members asking to take photographs together. Everyone who had embraced the fancy dress theme was only too happy to pose, and the atmosphere was filled with laughter, smiles and anticipation. 

Watching so many men confidently tackling the evening in towering high heels was entertaining enough, although by the interval, it was clear that fashion had definitely come at a price!  

One thing I’ve learned over the years is this:

Never assume you know how you’ll feel before you’ve experienced something. Sometimes the events that sit just outside your comfort zone become the ones you remember the most.

What began as a spontaneous theatre booking became one of the funniest, most immersive and memorable musical theatre experiences I’ve enjoyed.

The Rocky Horror Show isn’t simply a live performance. It’s an unforgettable audience experience where theatre lovers become part of the entertainment, creating an atmosphere unlike any other.

The Rocky Horror Show won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s exactly what makes it so memorable. So, go with an open mind, embrace the fun, and let the audience become as much a part of the performance as the cast themselves.   One of the most raucous parties in town!

You may just leave wondering why you waited so long.
