Book of Dust, National Theatre Live Blog  Theatre

Are you someone who enjoys Theatre with a fantasy theme ? If so, then “Book of Dust” by National Theatre Live could be for you. Based on a novel by Philip Pullman.

Culture Calendar Members were very taken with this performance which was streamed infront of a live audience.

Pretty incredible that a stage with few actors / actresses, and some very impressive could transport their audience through a turbulent river, risking life and limb to protect a small baby from an organisation called The Magisterium.

Two young actors stole the show in a boat, with a baby, and brought this National Theatre Live performance to life, on the tiniest stage.

All characters in the play had demons … which were puppets (operated by hand) and similar to the movie “The Golden Compass”. Incredible talent, and as always, Culture Calendar had great tickets.

Lovely to see a coach party of school children attending the same performance at Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, who behaved so well throughout.

However, the school students didn’t escape the watchful eye of their teachers, as there was a bit of finger wagging going on during the interval, when the teacher made a point of speaking with a couple of children that were chatting during this National Theatre Live screening.

We were engrossed in “The Book of Dust”. Highly recommended and this event is something that can be seen because Book of Dust is coming to a local cinema near you.
