This is one musical performance that some of Culture Calendar Group had seen before, but, its such a classic, and a clever way to tell a story through Theatre. Based on a true story, which dates back to the 1920’s.

Beulah Annan, alias the star of the show, Roxie Hart is married to husband Amos (Mr Cellophane). However, Roxie is having an affair.

When her lover tries to end the affair, Roxie shoots him dead, and tells hubby Amos that her dead lover was a burgular 🙄

Husband Amos agrees to take the blame, until he gets wise and realises that his wife isnt telling the truth.

Roxie Hart (Beulah) is arrested and awaiting trial, with a possibility of a death sentence if found guilty!

Loose Women’s Actress, Brenda Edwards, was set to star as Mama Morton (Matron of the Jail) but unfortunately for Brenda, and for us, Brenda slipped on a wet pavement whilst in Blackpool. So she really did “Break a Leg” 🙈.

Brenda said she was prepared to perform in a wheel chair, but her understudy came to the rescue and delivered a spectacular performance.

Culture Calendar Group loved this all day and all night organized coach trip, first to Lytham St Annes, and then an evening performance at The Winter Gardens, Blackpool. As always, Culture Calendar had excellent stalls tickets too!
