One Chinese woman performed throughout this live performance, to tell the story of fictional Chinese heroine Hua Mulan, who, with no other male family member, disguises herself as a man to take her fathers place in joining the army.
Mulan returns home to her family after years of fighting and leading an army of soldiers – but changes her clothes, makes up her face, and dresses her raven black hair.
Comrades that have been fighting by her side for many years are shocked to learn that the man they have fought with, ate with, slept alongside for many years … is indeed … a woman!
