What do we really love about Royal Court Theatre, Liverpool ?

Its not only the tremendous local acting talent, it’s the humour, the drama, the entertaining and relatable storylines and characters.

Inspite of all the laughter and chaos, you will often find an underlying heartfelt sentiment in many performances.

Playwrites for The Royal Court Liverpool have a knack of reaching their audiences feelings and emotions, whilst still keeping the storyline very upbeat and positive.  I have always found each performance to be full of fun and laughter.

The Royal Court Liverpool storylines are always set in the Merseyside Area. Its almost as though you know what to expect, in terms of a great day / night out, whilst not knowing how the story and characters will come together. But always a great performances guaranteed.

There is so much more that goes on behind the scenes at this Theatre too, in terms of supporting and encouraging local playwrites.

Culture Calendar have also taken The Royal Court Backstage Tour before now.   Les Dennis was in the Liverpool Royal Court Studio at the time.  I imagine he was reviewing scripts or such with the producer.  Les was very pleasant and said a quick “Hello”, and asked if we were all ok, and we carried on our tour.

Some of our group did manage to have their picture taken with the lovely Eithne Browne after a saturday matinee performance of Brick Up The Mersey. She was collecting a group of students from Liverpool Royal Court Foyer. Still in costume, with stage make up, and a very flat head of hair (having been wearing her stage wig for the past 2 hours), she was gracious beyond words to stop for us.

We have seen too many plays to mention with our organised day trips by coach, but amongst my personal favourites has to be Scouse Cinderella, Mam am ‘ere, , Scouse Nativity. The Royal.  Hilarious, and unforgettable.

I think that, in offering our organised day trips by coach, we have been to see pretty much every performance. Including : Oliver (Bost). Lost Soul. Girls dont play guitars. Council Depot Blues. Brick Up & Brick up 2. My Fairfield Lady. Scouse Pacific. Scouse Snow White. Lost Soul. Bouncers. Liver Birds Flying Home. Lost in Colomendy., Pete Price is Dead. Ellen & Rigby. You’ll never walk alone. Little Scouse on the Prairie. Lost Souls. Liver Birds Flying home.

Amongst the most affordable theatres in the city, the actors and actresses never cease to make our day every time we visit.

Thank you so much.
