“97+”

Hillsborough

1989

This was the play that some of Culture Calendar Members went to see at Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, this week.

Both characters in the play (Steve and John) are Liverpool fans, who were at the Liverpool game.

They relive their story …

The aftermath. The anguish. The torture. Families ripped apart. Families that stayed together. A doctored statement. The fight for justice … and some very dark moments indeed.

A very powerful performance, moving many to tears, and a well deserved standing ovation.

This stage play has already been performed at Liverpool Theatre Festival, so when the opportunity comes around again to go and see it.

(Please consider the age of any younger children going to see this performance).

Written and Directed by former Edge Hill Uni Student: Tom Cain, who says “Dedicated to the 97 that died at Hillsborough, all those affected by the disaster, including my Grandad, a Hillsborough Survivor”.

“In Collaboration with the Hillsborough Survivors Support Alliance, without which this play would not have been possible”.
